Special or emergency notices--such as church closure due to weather--will be found here. As a rule of thumb, if the Monroe County Library is open on a Sunday, we have services!

Pastoral Care

Many people see themselves as givers of Pastoral Care, and their ministry is greatly appreciated. Won’t you be one?

The Pastoral Care Commission

What is Pastoral Care? Pastoral = the work and concern of the shepherd for their sheep; Care = the provision of what is necessary for the health, welfare, maintenance, and protection of someone or something.

The pastoral care commission seeks to organize and empower Trinity’s members to care for one another, both physically and spiritually, in times of need by:

  • Providing meals (by request) when you are:
  • Welcoming a new child
  • Recovering from surgery
  • Grieving the death of a loved one
  •  Assisting with funeral receptions.
  • Arranging for transportation to medical appointments.
  • Visiting you when you are homebound or hospitalized.
  • Bringing you gifts of Easter and Christmas flowers when you are homebound or grieving.
  • Praying with you or for you.
  • Celebrating communion with you when you are in the hospital or homebound.
  • Sending you notes of sympathy and encouragement during challenging life changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, when a request for a service comes in, an email is sent to all who have said they would provide the service. Anyone who is available will reply. You are not required to participate a specific number of times.

Only if you want to be a coordinator for a service or be more involved in deciding what services that Trinity will offer. While Pastoral Care will always be provided by Trinity and for Trinity, the Pastoral Care Commission as a formal body is currently under review and not meeting regularly.

A fund to provide reimbursement may be available at times, but generally speaking you will not be reimbursed.

Anyone within Trinity can request assistance. All one has to do is let the church know what assistance is needed. Here is how it works:

  1. A call comes in saying someone needs meals, transportation, visitation or communion.
  2. The information is given to the Rev. Connie Peppler, and/or a coordinator.
  3. Deacon Connie or the coordinator verifies what is needed and sends out a message to the volunteers with the pertinent information.
  4. Volunteers reply when and what they will provide.

Members of the Pastoral Care Commission take turns being the coordinator, usually for one month at a time.
