Spiritual Formation: Our Vision at Trinity

We want to help each person know that they are a beloved child of God, and to live into that love fully.

We now live in a world of increasing volatility, uncertainty, chaos, and ambiguity. These characteristics destabilize our sense of the goodness of the world, and our sense that we are beloved children of God. Additionally, our social, cultural, and historical context raises other challenges for living faithfully in this world. This includes (but isn’t limited to): fear, fatalism, angry and provocative public discourse, worshiping wealth, seeing our only value as economic, constant pressure to “be on the right side of history,” and difficulty handling ethical situations that are ambiguous.

We believe that Jesus deeply understands us, is present in our lives, and wants to be in relationship with us in the midst of all we experience and struggle with. (Hebrews 4:12-16)

Our goal in spiritual formation is to help members of all ages develop deepened relationship with Christ and build Spiritual Resiliency. This means having the ability to stand in the midst of the volatility, uncertainty, chaos, and ambiguity of our world today and remain confident in the presence of the Lord and the coming of God’s promised Reign. (Luke 17:6) The whirlwind of chaos and distress may surround, but not engulf you. It is a practice in identifying and cultivating the peace that Jesus offers us, which passes understanding – a practice in being in the midst of a storm, but consciously wearing the armor of God. (Philippians 4:6-7; Ephesians 6:10-12)

All of our offerings–classes, retreats, discussions, events, music offerings, etc.–are designed to help everyone develop spiritual resiliency and live knowing that they are beloved, created by God, who offers us everything needed to not only survive in today’s world, but thrive and help others to thrive and grow. (Psalm 23:1-6)
