We will be reading Luke's account of the Passion of Our Lord (Luke 22:14-23:56) on Palm Sunday (March 28). As is our custom, we will have various members of the congregation read the parts of specific individuals mentioned in the Gospel. The parts are (in order of appearance)
Narrator (this person reads A LOT of text, so be prepared for that if you volunteer) Jesus Peter Disciple Servant 1 Servant 2 Servant 3 Soldier 1 Soldier 2 Elder 1 Elder 2 Elder 3 Pilate Criminal 1 Criminal 2 Centurion
I need volunteers to read parts at all 3 services. Members of the 7:45 congregation, please contact Spencer Anspach if you wish to read as they will read the abbreviated Passion (which has fewer parts). Folks who wish to volunteer to read at the 9:00 or 11:15, please give your name to me or Deacon Connie.
There are no gender or age limts to any of the parts. We can have 68 year old basses reading the servant girls and we could have a teenage Pilate if that is what people wish to do. This is one of those powerful readings that if done well, sets a proper tone for Holy Week. There will be a practice session for each service arranged by a coordinator (Spencer Anspach for the 7:45, Deacon Connie for the 9:00, Jonathan Karty for the 11:15). |

Both the Presiding Bishop and Bishop Cate are recommending donations be made to Episcopal Relief and Development. The website is www.er-d.org.
According to the ERD website, they are providing relief directly to the Diocese of Haiti. The best method to use is to send funds directly to ERD via their website, or you may also drop off a donation at the office with the check made out to "Episcopal Relief and Development". Sending it directly to ERD ensures the least "downtime" for your donation. Incidentally, ERD historically gets very high rankings for effective and responsible use of funds, so you can be assured your donation is in good hands. |
